It’s exposure–early and often–to a variety of professional work environments, career paths, and industries. RIT’s Combined Accelerated Bachelor’s/Master’s Degrees enable you to earn both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in as little as five years of study, all while gaining the valuable hands-on experience that comes from co-ops, internships, research, study abroad, and more. Designer and educator with over two decades of experience, James Grady, assistant professor of graphic design at BU School of Visual Arts and creative director at BU Spark! Students may also take coursework outside of the School of Visual Arts and explore programs across the BU community.
Program Structure
Assignments include advertising, product packaging, civic branding, and currency design. The focus of the course is on improving your design by learning to see type differently. Throughout the program, you’ll access industry-relevant opportunities to develop and advance your proficiency in critical thinking, problem solving, and communication. In year three, working closely with our faculty, you’ll develop a customized educational plan to help you craft a portfolio of work to achieve your personal or professional goals.
Appalachian State University
Housed in the Doty Fine Arts Building (DFA) and the Art Building (ART), the Design Department offers a BFA in Design. Graduates of the Graphic Design Program at Savannah College of Art go on to establish careers at major companies such as Apple, Verizon, IBM, Under Armour, and Ralph Lauren. Some program alumni have gone on to launch their own design studios, while others have established successful freelance careers.
BFA Illustration Thesis Show
The Graphic Design program regularly works with EPIC (Engineering Product Innovation Center), a pioneering facility at Boston University for fabrication that offers laser cutting, 3D printing, robotic manufacturing, and more. Other past Graphic Design-related study abroad trips have included a two-week design intensive in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and a two-week Printmaking workshop at the Franz Masareel Centrum in Kasterlee, Belgium. Registration fees are nonrefundable after 5 days from the scheduled beginning of program orientation. To enter the program you are expected to have earned a high school diploma, GED, or state-approved home school equivalent. Any students under 18 years of age will also need to provide the signed permission of a parent or guardian. Since 2001, Sessions College has been accredited by the Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC).

This course explores multiple theories of cultural anthropological that inform the way we understand identities and societies. The BFA in Graphic Design is a 120-credit Online Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design program completed in 3.3 years. Students work on a variety of projects in their all courses that allow them to gain “real world” experience. These assignments provide the experience to work on projects based on industry standards, with peers in Ad/PR, Law, Science, Marketing, Political Science, Computer Science, to name a few. Chapman University’s Margo Pawell Design Symposium, originally established in 2013, is dedicated to bringing together diverse experts to discuss topics in graphic design giving our students and the regional design community a chance to gather and partake in the discourse. In 2016 the symposium was renamed to honor the legacy of Ms. Margo Pawell, beloved former student and alum who inspired creativity, intellect, and passion here at Chapman and Orange County as a whole.
BFA Program Outcomes
A thriving athletics program has been an integral part of Liberty University’s vision from the beginning, and today Liberty has 20 NCAA Division I athletic teams, 41 Club Sports teams, and 20 intramural sports. Credit Hours
Art BFA graduates are prepared to pursue careers in Advertising and Public Relations, Marketing, Design, Publishing, Package Design, Motion Graphics, Web Design, Entertainment, and many others. CVAD Communication Design students will graduate with a professional portfolio and the skills needed to pursue positions in industries such as advertising, publishing, entertainment, manufacturing, and computer systems design. University of North Texas CVAD graduates also qualify for jobs in government agencies, museums, colleges and universities, nonprofit organizations, and for associations, among others. Each year, the program organizes a senior Design Illinois career fair in Chicago, in addition to a vibrant lecture series that brings regional and national designers to campus. Students have access to updated facilities and equipment, including all necessary production and output devices such as large format printers, laser cutters, 3-D printers, CNC routers, professional audio & video equipment, and 24-hour access to computer labs. On average the design area brings in five visiting artist, critics, curators or arts professionals each semester.
Cooperative education, internships, and other experiential learning opportunities are strongly encouraged for students in the BFA in graphic design. The Visual Arts Resource Library is a non-lending resource library of art and design books, periodicals, and audio/visual resources. Additional resources for student use include Apple desktop computers, a large-format scanner and copy stand, and digital equipment for short-term loan, including digital SLR cameras, projectors, lighting kits, and more. Partnerships with area businesses and design firms help undergraduates to navigate the professional world, leading to internships and employment.
Through lectures, critiques, workshops and site-specific projects, students are exposed to a variety of artistic perspectives and provided first hand experience into professional art making practices. He studied his undergraduate and graduate studies at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) in Illustration and Architecture, respectively. Following his undergraduate program, he served as an artist in residence for a non-profit organization and taught at various high schools in Rhode Island. He also held the position of head of the visual art department at MX High School in Concord, MA, before he joined his graduate studies. As a studio artist and muralist, he was commissioned and exhibited his works nationally and internationally. From toymakers to pizza chefs, RIT graphic design students collaborated with local kindergartners to bring a collection of talented, friendly monsters to life.
You will demonstrate the ability to iterate multiple design solutions, employ advanced aesthetic judgement, and show the ability to communicate with diverse audiences and cultures. You will synthesize multiple design principles as you produce a variety of compelling designs prominently featuring typographic elements. Learn the technical fundamentals of producing professional-looking print publications. Areas of focus include managing a print job effectively, communicating with printers, and identifying the best solution within a budget. Course projects build skills in choosing papers and inks, modifying your materials and processes based on a budget, using Adobe InDesign to prepare designs for print, managing the phases of the production workflow, and most importantly producing high-quality work. Get a thorough grounding in Adobe Photoshop, the premiere image manipulation tool for print design, Web design, and photography.

Tuyen is a French born-Vietnamese communicator, designer and educator, who is passionate about food, technology and inter-cultural identity. She loves sharing her experiences and ideas with others to help inspire hospitality, conviviality + creativity. Beyond his role as an educator, Likke actively engages in an architectural project that rebuilds schools in Ethiopia and participates in public design works in the Boston area. He recently joined the newly formed Ph.D. program in Interdisciplinary Design and Media at Northeastern University.
